Ok, maybe we are getting a little too excited for spring, considering it is just March 2nd- but we can't help it! We are craving warmer temps and lighter, brighter clothes. Plus, have you seen the cute trends that are going to arrive with the spring? Love them. So many wearable colors and clothing that actually suits pregnant women and those transitioning perfectly.
If you want to jump start your spring cleaning and/or shopping, begin by putting away some your bulkiest and most "winter-like" clothes. Warning: DO NOT PACK UP ALL OF THEM, just make a little room in your closet for a new few items. After all, no matter where you live, cold weather can creep up on you even in late May and June so don't make any bold moves that you will later regret.
One of the best ways to start getting your wardrobe pumped up about spring is to think about adding some colorful layering pieces or pop colors. Since you want to make sure your investments are worthy, start slowly when integrating spring pieces. Think about your existing wardrobe and find new hues that can be paired in a way that makes your outfits feel fresh.
For example, the 70's are back and so are 70's inspired colors like deep oranges and chartreuse. Not always the easiest of colors to wear, if you love these colors and want to incorporate them into your wardrobe, try pairing them with the winter neutrals you already have before buying the works. If you continue your love affair into the spring, feel free to splurge on a few more pieces.
Stripes! Totally wearable in the winter and adorable in the spring, stripes are all the rage. From basic to boldly colored and wide, stripes are having their fashion moment. Like anything else, a little bit goes a long way, so if you want to wear stripes, choose one item to focus on such as a tee . A horizontal strip top and a vertical stripe top, for example, is not a chic look, so try to mix and match wisely. As we have said before, contrary to popular belief, stripes look great on pregnant bodies so do not be afraid to wear them. However, certain directions of stripes such as diagonal and vertical can often create a slimmer appearance. Whether colorful or nautical, stripes can look good on women of every size and age, you just have to keep your body shape in mind and choose a stripe that complements your figure best.
Looking for another coveted style that will transition well into the spring? Florals. From Stella Mc Cartney to Christian Dior, worn dressed up or casual, floral prints are one of the season's hottest looks. Winter bloomed with floral prints but the colors used were generally darker so if you are looking to liven up your floral look for a brighter print or accessorize your winter floral with some bright jewels. Florals are great because they are so feminine and can be worn on every type of body and for every type of occasion. However, like stripes, one should consider their silhouette when choosing a stripe. For example, smaller prints look better on larger women because they are more slimming. We recommend trying a variety of floral prints if you are in the market to buy so that ultimately you find the print that suits your needs best.
Do you have a spring trend that you are dying to try? Let us know about it. Soon enough, we will be unveiling our own spring collection and can't wait to hear your thoughts!!
Have a wonderful day!
xoxo,
The Moody Mamas
