Wear red today! Today is National Wear Red for Women Day in honor of heart disease prevention. Did you know that heart disease is the #1 Killer of women? It's true- 1 in 3 women die from heart disease each year. Though many pregnant women do not associate pregnancy with cardiological diseases, pregnancy is one of the physiological conditions that places a considerable burden on the heart, forcing it to work harder for a relatively long period (9 months). Women who have had a history or a family history of heart disease, heart murmur, rheumatic fever or high blood pressure should consult with their health care provider about these issues to avoid complications.
To avoid heath related conditions that may develop in otherwise healthy women who are pregnant, take care during your gestational period and avoid smoking, stay active, and eat healthy.We want you and your baby to have a healthy and happy pregnancy, so be mindful!
